Contract job

Anybody want a contract job, or know of anyone who wants a contract job, doing some Access programming?

Situation: we have an Excel template worksheet with some pretty hairy calculations.  This spreadsheet gets filled out and imported into an Access database, which then turns around and spits out a report.

What we want: The whole thing to be done in a single Access database.  Form entry, reports, storage, etc.

It doesn't sound all that difficult to me, but I don't have time to do it (or inclination to work around Access' limitations).  This is an ongoing project that comes as part of a company we just acquired.  Their outsourced developer claims it will require 100 man hours of programming time, which I think is more appropriate for getting a complete web application launched.

Contact [info]goldenstag (Hirsch, my Precedence colleague in the West), who does freelance database stuff. I forget which db package(s) he uses, but it's worth an email.

Eh, nevermind. He's a dBase guru, not Access.

err, what version of access? I admit I'm a little rusty, but I'd be willing to try.

Access 2003.

I'm collecting samples from those interested. If you would, please send me a database you've done that has input forms, the most mathematically complex SQL code you've put together for the backend, and a report output. Thanks.

I would have sent you the database I did for my old job, but I discovered that I neglected to snag the client portion of the code. Needless to say I'm annoyed.

I am building something, have tables, forms, some queries, and am working on making the reports. They may not look pretty, but they will work. I will even include a copy of the spreadsheet it's based off of. Otherwise, I will respectfully withdraw myself.

My neighbor here at work's husband might be interested, I'll check with her/him if it's something he's strong on. He's currently "between jobs" and I should think would welcome the work, if it's in his area.

Nope, sorry, response was "unfortunately no" when asked if he had experience with Access.

Sent you an email.

That email address I gave you last night? He might know the right person for this job. It's worth asking him.

Thanks. I'll ask him.
